Alexander leads the Nuclear Engineering Center at Georgian Technical University, Tbilisi. Alexander completed his PhD in 1992 at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and later, in 2005 completed his DS dissertation at the Georgian Technical University, Tbilisi. He was the scientific supervisor of 3 PhD and 17 MSc dissertations in the field of computer-aided geometry modeling and visualization.In 2020 was awarded the honorary diploma by the Georgian Academy of Science for scientific achievements in the field of Mechanics and informatics. In 2019 was  elected a full member (Academician) of the Georgian Engineering Academy. In 2010 was awarded the State National prize in the field of information technologies.

Alexander is the organizer and chairperson of the annual South Caucasus workshops in Computing. He is the author of 114 scientific publications and 5 books.
